Nina was born in her childhood home in Lauderdale County, Tennessee on August 28, 1930 to Samuel Gayle Perry, Sr. and Sarah Alice Perry (nee: McBride), who preceded her in death. She was the beloved wife of over 44 years to Thomas R. Durgin; loving step mother of Donna Hazmark (Robert), Lorna Diaz, the late Timothy Durgin, and Stephen Durgin (Sheri); devoted grandmother of 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; dear sister of Sarah Josephine Cooper and the late Samuel Gayle Perry, Jr. (Bonnie); and treasured aunt of Samuel Gayle Perry III (Shannon), Julie R. Cushing and Benjamin P. Cooper. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nina worked for First National Bank of Memphis for nearly 25 years, that is until she met the love of her life, Thomas, and married him in August of 1974. She then moved to Texas with him and his family. Nina was very passionate about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and walked in faith throughout her life. She was a very creative person and an outstanding artist who created beautiful oil paintings. Nina always enjoyed listening to music, especially when her husband, Tom, would sing hymns to her. She was also a very good cook who loved to feed her family and spend quality time with them. Nina will be remembered as a sweet, gentle, and even-tempered lady who was immensely grateful for her husband, her family, and the life that God gave her. Nina will truly be missed by all those persons whose lives she touched.
Nina will be laid to rest at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann, MO. No funeral services have been scheduled.
