WHITE, H. Keith, 95, died on Friday August 21, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Hospital. He was born to Harry and Nancy Jane (Witt) White on August 1, 1920 in Potosi, Missouri. He was proud to have graduated from McKinley High School in 1938, after which he began his career with what would become the Wm P Mahne Silver Company. He began as a delivery boy, traveled selling the many wares for the company for years and retired as a vice president of the company. On May 11, 1940 he married his childhood sweetheart, Verba May Smith. During their 75 years of marriage they enjoyed many activities together playing cards with friends, playing golf, and traveling to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico making life long friends where ever they were. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in May of this year. He was a devoted husband, attending daily to Verba in her continuing struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps after attaining the rank of Corporal. In June of 2010 he was privileged to travel to the WWII Memorial in Washington DC on the Honor Flight. Upon retirement he began a thirty year career as a volunteer, delivering Meals on Wheels, visiting disabled veterans, volunteering at the Webster/Rock Hill Ministries and driving for the County Older Residents Program (CORP). He was proudest of his 25 years of service to the Shriner's Hospital Guides, as a founding member of the Moolah Temple Hospital Transportation Program. He was also a member of Bridgeton Lodge #80 A.F. & A.M. He was to be recognized as the Shriner of the Month on Tuesday, August 25 of this year. He was an avid sports fan and a walking encyclopedia of Cardinal history, and passed his life-long love affair with the St. Louis Cardinals on to all of his children, grand children and great grandchildren. He was also a great fan of the Missouri Tigers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Nancy (Witt) White, brothers James White, Blaine Brown and John White, daughter Janet White Sansoucie, and daughter in law Susan Menke-White. He is survived by his wife, Verba (Smith) White, son Dennis White of Sturgeon Bay WI. Grandchildren Sallie (Brian) Overton of Helena, MT, Jane (Steve) Kurzer of Bend, OR, Benjamin (Dane Borg) Hazelton of Portland, OR, Emily (Todd) Wells of Bend OR, Alexander White of Madison, WI, Rebecca White (Peace Corp volunteer) Uganda and Keith White of Denver, CO and great grandchildren Jens Bolstad III, Jacob Kurzer, Micah Kurzer, Evan Wells and Elizabeth Wells.
SERVICES: Visitation 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at ALEXANDER-WHITE-MULLEN Funeral Home 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd., St. Ann, MO 63074. Interment with Military Honors in Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
