Susan Jones was born in Robersonville, North Carolina on April 15, 1932. During her childhood, she grew up on a farm with her parents and four brothers and sisters. While farming was hard work, she loved working with her family and often spoke of having a wonderful childhood. She loved and excelled in school. At eighteen, she took a bold step for the times and moved to Columbus, Ohio where her older brother had moved several years earlier. Before moving, she took the civil service test for the FBI. After she had been in Ohio, she received notice that she passed the exam and was offered a job with the FBI. Since she had already moved to Columbus and had a good job, she declined the offer. While in Columbus, she met the love of her life, Los, and was married in 1954. Shortly after being married, they moved to Florida where she spent the next 60 years of her life. She loved the warm weather in “her Florida”. In 1962, she had the first of her boys, Harold and then Lee in 1965. She loved doing things with her family. In the 1970’s, they bought a travel trailer and enjoyed traveling in the summers. In the late 1979’s, the family took a 5 week, 10,000 mile journey around the country and saw many of the historical landmarks in the country such as Sequoia National Park, Yellowstone, and Mt. Rushmore. In 1999, Susan and Los moved to Bradenton, Florida from Singer Island, Florida where they enjoyed many years together. She loved gardening and was often working in her backyard. Her husband passed away in 2009. Due to declining health, she moved to Leesburg, VA in 2015 to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Debbie. Due to complications from pneumonia, she entered a blessed eternity on December 20, 2016. She is survived by her son, L. Harold Jones III (Debbie A.) and four grandchildren. Susan made a profession of faith as a teenager. The Lord gave her a great life and she often said how blessed she was to live the life she had. She will be missed greatly by her family as she was a wonderful wife and mother. Arrangements under the direction of Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, VA.
