Ruby E. Geisel

Ruby E. Geisel, 77, of Bloomington, IL, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at McLean County Nursing Home, in Normal, IL. She was born August 8, 1945, in Huntingdon, PA, to John and Lena (Stapleton) Snyder as their only child. Ruby married Sam Geisel on November 2, 1968 and the two shared 37 years together, before Sam’s passing in 2005.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Kara and Katrena Geisel, and son-in-laws Yves Milord and Patrick O’Malley. She is also preceded in passing by her parents, John and Lena Snyder; daughter, Kalinda Geisel; and grandson, William Geisel-Phillips.

Ruby served our country in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) as a Medical Corpsman, where she earned a National Defense Service Medal. She was proud of her time in service, as well as her time with the embassy where she spent many years traveling overseas to places such as Romania and Tunisia. Following her service, Ruby worked as an LPN and cared for both infants and the elderly. She was known for her bubbly and happy personality, her love for her family and friends, as well as her love for her cats.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, VA. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
