Roger Doucette, age 93, passed away on December 6, 2023, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Roger was born in Waltham, Massachusetts to Raymond and Lucy (Chiasson) Doucette on November 23, 1930. In 1955 he married Dorothy “Dottie” Dodge from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dottie preceded him in death in 2017. Roger graduated from Waltham High School and from Cameron University, receiving his Business Administration degree. He was a career Army Officer and Aviator qualified in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. He and his wife traveled worldwide during their military career and lived for extended periods in such places and Germany, Turkey, Japan, and numerous places throughout the United States. He also served as a Combat Engineer Sergeant during the Korean Conflict and two tours as an officer during the Vietnam War. He later became a real estate broker and a certified real estate instructor for the State of Oklahoma. After retiring, he and his wife lived in Harrisonburg, Virginia for more than twenty years and then Roger moved to The Fairfax retirement community in 2021. Roger was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a treasured friend to many. He and his wife were highly supportive of their children’s activities during the family’s growing up years, particularly scouting and Little League. At any given time, he was a den dad, an assistant scout leader, or a volunteer umpire for Little League baseball. He was also involved in various community and church activities. Roger is survived by his three children and their partners, Sandra (John) Maxfield of Raleigh, North Carolina, John (Janette) Doucette of Alexandria, Virginia, and Ellen (Mike Farrow) Feyka of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the beloved Gramps to seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
