Robert Earl Penick

Robert Earl Penick, 89, passed away on May 9, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Phyllis Marie Penick; his daughters Karen Shirley Boyd, Robin Jayne Patterson, Kelly Sue Israel, and Kathy Anne Keys; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; step children, Diana L.(Mike) Shiflett, John W.(Carol Lowe) Duvall and Michael M. (Sheryl) Duvall; step granddaughters, Danielle M. Duvall and Brittany N.(Brenden) Vaughn; and step great-grandson, Austin E. Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Deaner Penick, brother Price Penick, sister Olden Drinkard, his son Danny Galen Penick and grandson Daniel Benjamin Becker, Staff SGT, US Army. A veteran of the US Navy, Robert was born in Lynchburg, VA. He was a Yard Master for the RFP Railroad, retiring after many years of devoted service in June 1989. He Volunteered at Koinonia with Franconia United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler with multiple perfect games. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 11am to 12:30pm at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151, where a funeral service will be held at 12:30pm. Interment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306.
