Robert Edward Donovan

Robert E. Donovan (age 90) of Burke, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2011. Beloved husband of Janice; loving father of Kenneth M. Donovan (Judith Keller), Donald S. Donovan (Jacquelyn McClelland) and Paul R. Donovan (Kathryn); devoted grandfather of Joseph Donovan (Deborah), Jennette Guntly (Cliff), Christopher Donovan (Regina), Brian Donovan, Kevin Donovan, Katherine Fairgrieve (Jonathan), and Sarah Shane (Michael); and great-grandfather of Rebecca and Robert Donovan, and Ian Fairgrieve. Robert is also survived by his siblings, Ruth O’Keefe and Alice Fitzgerald. Robert was preceded in death by his siblings Martin, Richard and Edward. Robert served with distinction in WWII as an Army paratrooper with the 503rd RCT in the Pacific theater, including the unit’s historic jump on Corregidor, Philippines. A visitation will be held, Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 5308 BACKLICK RD., SPRINGFIELD, VA. A funeral service with military honors will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 2:45pm at Ft. Myer Chapel with interment to follow in Arlington National Cemetery.
