Paul Thompson Sr.

Of Annandale, VA, passed away on December 26, 2018 with his family by his side.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Barsha Prose, children Paul Jr., Christopher, Barsha Jayne, Cynthia, Veronica, Jennifer and Stephanie, and 15 grandchildren.
He was born in Grayson, KY on December 29, 1937 to Ollie & Alton Thompson Sr. and later moved to Ashland, KY on Cactus Street.
Paul Thompson worked in GSA supply operations from 1959 through 1995. His 36 years of service began at the GSA Franconia Depot (Springfield, VA). After a period at GSA, 7th and D ST SW (Washington, DC) he worked over two decades at the FSS (now FAS) distribution headquarters in the Crystal City (Arlington, VA) facility. For this period, Paul led the Inventory Surveillance function responsible for product counts (GSA Stock Program) and statistical sampling of operations accuracy throughout the many GSA storage facilities nationwide. Paul is remembered as an approachable and ready teacher and mentor, and an expert in his field. His work continues in several written procedures and handbook references still in use.
In addition to his GSA career, Paul Thompson also served in the Kentucky, and Washington, DC, National Guard for a total of 8 years.
His family was his life, and will be missed by all who knew him.
A gathering to remember and celebrate Paul’s life will be held at Christ Church, 7600 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA on Saturday, January 5 beginning at 2 pm with viewing and prayer service.
