Mary Ann DeRossi

The Life of Mary Ann DeRossi Mary Ann (Wagner) DeRossi, wife, mother, grandmother par excellence, was received in heaven on August 24, 2019. She was 77 years old. Mary Ann was born on April 2, 1942 in Queens, New York. From elementary through high school she attended Catholic schools. In 1959 Mary Ann graduated high school and then attended Queens College of the City University of New York, where she met her future husband Guido (Guy) DeRossi. Both Mary Ann and Guido majored in accounting and received their baccalaureate in June 1963. Upon graduating college, Mary Ann obtained a position at Shell Oil Company as a fuel tax accountant. Mary Ann and Guido married on September 25, 1965 and gave birth to their first daughter, Linda, in October 1966. The very happily married couple continued to live in Queens, NY until they moved to Northvale, New Jersey in 1971. While living in Northvale, Mary Ann gave birth to their second daughter, Karen, in December 1972. In addition to being a full time mother, Mary Ann was very active in the PTA and also worked on a part time basis for a number of companies including Associated Wholesale Florist –NJ and H&R Block. Additionally, she also served as the Treasurer of School Monies for two school districts. Mary Ann loved to cook and took many cooking classes while in Northvale and prepared many wonderful dinners for family and friends. As a result of a job transfer, Mary Ann and Guido moved to Springfield, Virginia in 1995. While living in Springfield, she worked for numerous trade associations including the National Confectioners Association, Health Industry Distributors Association, and American Moving and Storage Association. She continued her passion for cooking by joining a local Gourmet Group and enjoyed many wonderful lunches with the group. Since she was an avid reader, she also joined a neighborhood book club. She was also a very active participant in many yoga classes. Mary Ann’s love for travel was fulfilled by taking numerous cruises and trips individually with Guido and especially when she and Guido joined the International Travel Club. What wonderful sites she experienced in Italy, South Africa, Peru, Cuba and other Travel Club trips. And of course, a “second home” for Mary Ann and Guido was their annual vacations in Grand Cayman. They made many friends there and returned for over 20 years. Mary Ann is survived by her husband Guido, her sister Edith Fischer, her daughters Linda Wilson and Karen Ammann, and four granddaughters Renee Wilson, Rebecca Wilson, Katherine Ammann and Elizabeth Ammann. She is also survived by nieces and a nephew. Let’s all remember Mary Ann for her kindness, elegance, and thoughtfulness. She was the kind of person you loved the first time you met her. She was beloved by family and friends alike. Although Mary Ann worked with and loved flowers, she would prefer memorials to be made to Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, 3345 Washington Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21227.
