OBITUARY
Lori Lynette Seidel
9 February, 1964 – 5 March, 2023
IN THE CARE OF
Demaine Funeral Home
On March 5th, 2023, Lori L. Seidel, 59, of Springfield, Virginia went home to be with Jesus. Her passing was unexpected which has left us all longing for at least one more conversation and one more hug. We are finding comfort and peace in the knowledge that she is no longer struggling. Her faith in Jesus Christ is why we know she is finally free.
Lori was born on February 9, 1964, to Leonard and Pamela Seidel in Elkhart, Indiana. Having moved from coast to coast, she spent most of her childhood in Springfield, Virginia. She graduated from West Springfield HS in 1982 and went on to graduate from the Washington School of Business the following year. She took those skills and training and began a long career working for the airlines. She started as an executive administrator and worked her way up to a national account manager.
Lori was also an accomplished pianist winning a national competition at 18 years of age. She was passionate about music and spent 20 years teaching piano to kids of all ages. She did all of this while raising four beautiful children. The end of her career was spent working in various executive administrative roles in and around Washington, DC.
Lori loved to travel and was often jumping on planes or in the car to visit her family across the US. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and couldn’t wait until the next visit. She loved the beach, bright colors, butterflies, and baseball caps. She could often be seen at the local TJ Maxx or Marshall’s on the hunt for another fluffy scarf or fun gift for friends and family. Her love of giving compelled her to shop.
As we have reflected this week together as family, words that we have uttered that describe who she was and is to us are: Vibrant, brave, loving, compassionate, persevering, hard-working, intelligent, gifted, selfless, creative, and generous.
Lori is survived by her children and grandchildren, David and Jessica Mares (Cayden, David, Jaxon, Axel), Jonathan and Casi Mares (Harper), Sara Mares (Conner and Rylie), and Katie Mares. Her siblings, Erick (Lana) Seidel, Cal (Tammy) Seidel and Sherie Harvey as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family invites you to join us in celebrating Lori’s life on Monday, March 13 at 1pm. The service will be held at Immanuel Bible Church located at 6911 Braddock Road, Springfield, Virginia. For those attending please enter from Braddock Road and proceed into the church through entrance one. The family will greet attendees at a cookie reception in the atrium immediately following the memorial service.
