F. William “Bill” Weaver, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 27, 2024.
Born in 1927 in Buffalo, New York, Bill’s life was marked by a steadfast dedication to his family and, community. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII and served as a radio operator in post-WWII Germany. Upon his return, he attended Union College in Schenectady, New York on the GI Bill, where he studied engineering and business and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. It was while at Union College that Bill met his true love, Barbara Traver. They married in 1952 and celebrated 72 wonderful years together.
As newlyweds, Bill and Barbara settled in Endicott, New York, where Bill began his career at IBM, before returning to Buffalo to raise a family and join Weaver Metal & Roofing, a family-owned, commercial construction company. Active in their community, Bill and Barbara were dedicated members of Kenmore Presbyterian Church, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. In their retirement, Bill and Barbara retired to St. Simons Island, Georgia, and eventually made their home at Westminster at Lake Ridge in Virginia, where they spent their golden years.
A loving, gentle, hard-working, and principled man, Bill is a role model to his children and grandchildren. Bill was cherished by his wife, Barbara†; sister, Nancy Riehman; brother-in-law, Richard Traver (Margaret); daughters, Diane Hazzard (Rusty), Kathie Weaver (Josh Kramer), and Carolyn Weaver (Rex Batson); grandchildren, Libby Hayes (Joe), Amy Moore (Hart), Traver Batson (Erika Casales), and Jack Kramer; great-grandchildren, Nolan Hayes, Emmett Hayes, and Caroline Moore; nieces, Bonnie Knight (John), Susan Riehman, Wendy Riehman, Judy Riehman (Brad Bryan), Carrie Riehman-Long (Mike Long), and nephew, Kevin Traver (Jennifer Hunt-Traver).
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Westminster at Lake Ridge on Saturday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Arlington National. Cemetery, with his beloved wife, Barbara.
