Deryle Calgene Cuddy

Deryle Calgene Cuddy, the youngest son of James R. Cuddy and Reba A. Cuddy of Hagerstown, Maryland. He is preceeded in death by two older brothers, James R. Jr. and Aaron; and his younger sister Christine (Tina). Deryle was born on October 11, 1920, and is a World War II Veteren, and served as a nose gunner on B24 Bombers. He flew two bomber missions each accredited with 25 missions. During his military career, he was awarded two purple hearts and four service air medals.
After the war, he continued his education at George Washington University. He started working in construction and became a union carpenter for 20 years. During this time, he met and married Louise Janette Painter from Charlestown, West Virginia on August 8, 1947; and with love started their family of one duaghter, Cheryle, and three sons, James, Timothy, and Dennis. They celebrated 66.5 years of marriage together.
Deryle served as a Building Inspector, and was later promoted to Safety Director for Arlington County until his retirement in 1985. Following his retirement, Deryle went to work in private sector Construction Management until final retirement again in 1995 at age 75.
He had four children, six grand children, four great grand children and one great great grand child. He was a dedicated husband and father that devoted his entire life to loving us all. He will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
