Alice P. Shirley, 83, of Lorton, VA, passed away on 09/27/23 in Woodbridge, VA.
Alice was born in Washington, DC to Mary and Harold Pritchard on 2/14/1940. She attended Roman Catholic schools in Washington, DC and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1958. She married Lance S. Shirley on May 23, 1959. She received an Associate’s Degree from Northern Virginia Community College. Alice worked as an Administrative Assistant or Public Affairs Officer for multiple federal government agencies, Vanderbilt University, and Fairfax County Public Schools. She retired from the Central Intelligence Agency where she worked for 14 years. She was also an active member of her church and taught religious education to elementary school children for many years. Alice was most proud of being a mother and grandmother and would count her children and grandchildren as her greatest achievement.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, and her Mother and Father.
Alice is survived by Jan Matuszko and her husband Richard, Barbara Fiero and her husband Richard, her sister Mary West, and her grandchildren Robert Matuszko, Catherine Matuszko, Kelly Matuszko, Ethan Fiero and Aiden Fiero.
Visitation will be at 11AM followed by a service in celebration of her life at noon on 10/4/23 at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA. Burial will follow at Columbia Gardens in Arlington, VA.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
Alice’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Ascend Hospice and the amazing staff in the Evergreen at Arbor Terrace in Woodbridge, VA.
