Todd was born in Champaign, IL in 1965 to Weldon and Sue Maisch. He married Kim Clarke on Nov. 7, 1995 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Todd, an Eagle Scout, graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 1988 and a Master’s of Business degree from Illinois State University in 1990. It was in college where Todd started his first foray into the political world, volunteering on campaigns in Illinois and Minnesota.
In 1992, Todd started his career working for the Illinois House Republican staff, but he quickly moved on to a long, storied career at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. Todd’s love of and commitment to the Illinois business community never wavered, even in the most trying political times, and his dedication to the Chamber eventually culminated into his dream job in 2014 as the President & CEO.
In the 30 years that Todd worked at the Illinois Chamber, he was a tireless advocate for the Chamber and its members and his legacy is one of fostering a public policy agenda that always kept the rights of Illinois’ job creators at the forefront. He was also known as a mentor to many in the lobbying community and his advice and counsel was sought by a wide array of public officials, staff and colleagues.
The Chamber only took second place to his family and friends. Todd was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife of 28 years, Kim, who he met in 1993 on the House Republican staff. He was immensely proud of their two sons, Max and Whit, and he volunteered as a basketball coach and Cub Scout Master. Todd was always the guy in the suit on the sidelines cheering them on at soccer, track and scholastic bowl meets.
Todd was a diehard Illini fan and enjoyed attending games with his long-time college friends, the Road House gang. Over the years he also enjoyed a myriad of hobbies such as scuba diving, fly fishing, and skeet shooting. He met his goal of visiting all 50 states, was a master of music trivia and rarely lost in darts.
In addition to his work and family life, Todd was a board member for Share The Spirit Foundation and attended First United Methodist Church of Springfield.
Todd is survived by his wife Kim and their sons Max and Whit (Springfield, IL); his father Weldon Maisch (Louisville, KY); his brother David (Jennifer) Maisch (Ann Arbor, MI); and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sue, and his grandparents.
