Thomas J. Walsh

Thomas J. Walsh, Sr., 71, of Rural Cantrall passed away at 3:54 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at St. John's Hospital. Mr. Walsh was born March 9, 1929 the son of John P. and Genevieve M. Harney Walsh in Springfield. He married Betty R. Ramey at Holy Family Church in Athens on October 22, 1949 and she survives. He was a steamfitter by trade and was a member of the Steamfitter's Local 137 for over fifty years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and was a past board member of Athen's High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: John P. Walsh, Jr. Mr. Walsh is survived by his wife: Betty of Cantrall; two daughters: Elizabeth (husband-Lee)Brown of Ashland, and Susan (husband-Rick) Wise of Springfield; seven sons: Thomas Jr. (wife-Deb) of Springfield, Mike (wife-Debbie) of Cantrall, Patrick of Springfield, Kevin of Cantrall, Jim of Springfield, Richard (wife-Susan) of Springfield, and Charles (wife-Melanie) of Springfield; one sister Genevieve Lamkey of Riverton; two brothers: Gene(wife-Betty) of Athens, and Robert (wife-Sarah) of Cantrall. Seven granddaughters, seven grandsons, two great grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2001. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2001 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick Render CSV celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association 2580 Federal Drive, Suite 403 Decatur, IL 62526.
