Shirley R. Marshall

She was born Dec. 17, 1929 in Granite City, IL the daughter of Fred T. and Grace A. (Norton) Johnson. She married Paul V. Marshall in 1957 and he preceded her in death. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Marshall graduated Nebo High School and Quincy Beauty Academy. She worked for Gardner Denver in Quincy, owned her own beauty salon in Springfield, worked as the beautician for the Haven Retirement Center, the Dirksen House, and retired from Ridge Nursing Home. She was a longtime member of the Federated Junior Women’s Club, a devout Christian, and member of the Williamsville United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband Paul, and her parents. Survivors are her sister C. Joan Smith of Nebo, IL, a son Todd D. (wife Brenda L.) Marshall of Williamsville, IL, a daughter Paula R. (husband John) Palchak of Decatur, IL, a granddaughter Brittni R. Talley of Nashville, TN, 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield where visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorials may be made to the Williamsville United Methodist Church.
