Robert Eugene "Bob" Strode

Robert Eugene “Bob” Strode, 94, of Springfield, passed away on April 12, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 7, 1927 in Springfield to William Judd Strode and Hazel M. Denton. Bob married Mildred Nickelson in 1981 and she preceded him in death in 1989. He then married Delores Garrison on April 3, 2002 and she preceded him in death in 2005.

Mr. Strode is survived by four sons: Robert Strode Jr. of Wisconsin, Raymond (Mary) Strode of Pleasant Plains, James Strode of Phoenix, AZ., and John (Dara) Strode of Springfield and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Mildred Darling and one son Robert Strode Jr.

Bob was a US Army Veteran who served in World War II in Germany and France. He worked at Pillsbury for thirteen years and he was a self-employed painting contractor for fifty three years working until age 88. Bob enjoyed fishing, spending time at his cabin and spending time with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday April 19, 2022 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
