Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut St., Springfield, IL on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2001 N 1st St., Springfield, IL 62702.
Visitation will be held at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home on 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703 on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Richard was born in Springfield, IL to Charles Jude Budinger and Barbara Worthington Budinger on April 13, 1972. He attended Springfield High School and graduated in 1990. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Richard earned his MBA from University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was employed at U.S. Silica as Vice President of Operations. Richard was an avid sailor of E-Scow and C-Scow sailboats. He was a member of the Minnetonka Yacht Club in Minnetonka, Minnesota and Island Bay Yacht Club in Springfield, Illinois. His favorite crew consisted of his three sons.
Richard is survived by his wife, Amy Mueller Kwedar Budinger of Woodbury, Minnesota; his three sons, Daniel Joseph (19), John Patrick (16), and Thomas Richard (12) of Woodbury, Minnesota; his mother, Barbara Worthington Budinger of Springfield, IL; his father, Charles Jude Budinger (Agnes) of Springfield, IL; and his brother, Charles Earl Budinger (Elizabeth) of Sherman, IL. Richard was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Jack Albert.
