Raymond Eugene Meredith

Raymond Eugene Meredith, 58, of Springfield, died at 4:28 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. Ray was born June 11, 1953 in Springfield, the son of Lonnie and Fern Kline Meredith. He married Nancy Hulslander on October 3, 1981 at Sacred Heart Church. Ray was a graduate of Springfield High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an Animal Control Officer for the Sangamon County Animal Control for 28 years until he retired in 2007. He enjoyed NASCAR, gardening and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law; and two brothers-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Meredith of Springfield; son, Brady Meredith of Springfield; daughter, Amanda Meredith of Springfield; five siblings, Bonnie Fickas, Deborah (John) Capranica, Mark (Karen) Meredith and Marcy Goveia, all of Springfield, and Michael Meredith of St. Claire, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
