Ramon was born on August 18, 1934, in Parsons, KS, the son of Antonio and Marcelina (Ruiz) Canchola. He married Mary J. Diaz on June 28, 1953, in Chicago.
Ramon attended St. Francis School in Chicago. He was a member of Christ the King Parish in Springfield. Family was very important to Ramon. He was very proud that he raised responsible and productive children. He was the best dad and a devoted husband.
Ramon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christina Groark; brothers, Tony and Joe Canchola; and sister, Natividad Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Canchola of Springfield; sons, Raymond (Elaine) Canchola of Alsip, Michael (Kim) Canchola of Round Lake, and Steve (Kathy) Canchola of Tinley Park; daughters, Sandra (Henry) Rodriguez Canchola of Springfield and Sylvia (Tony) Mendez of Gurnee; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Jessie (Teresa) Canchola of Chicago, Hope (Manuel) Escobar of Bensonville, Frances Yanez of Kansas City, KS, Carmen Barret of Walnut Creek, CA, Josephine (Alfonso) Ceballos of Glendale Heights, Stella (Domingo) Morales of Morelia, Michoacan Mexico, and Socorro (Gabriel) Cisneros of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL 62704 with The Very Rev. Christopher House officiating.
Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery, 87th Street and Hamlin Ave., Evergreen Park, IL 60805.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
