Mildred Lawrence ''Millie'' Prather, 75, of Springfield, died at 9:37 p.m. Friday March 2nd, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center-E/R in Springfield. She was born January 8th, 1926 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Anthony & Ursula Poder Lawrence. She married Robert V. Prather Jr. in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Prather was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and a 1947 graduate of the University of Iowa. She had worked in the Chicago area as a Physcial Therapist, and had also been a local Real Estate Agent. She was also a homemaker, raising 5 children. She was very active in the community, and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Springfield Junior League, Progress Circle, Illini Country Club, Sangamo Club, Springfield Art Association, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, St. Joseph's Home Coterie, Springfield Civic Garden Club, Go for Broke Investment Club, and the Illinois State Museum Society. She had also served as Past President of Women's Symphony Guild and as a Past Board member of Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Surviving are three sons- Robert (wife-Julie) Prather of Peoria, William (wife-Debbie) Prather of Springfield, and James Prather of Springfield; two daughters- Linda (husband-Jeff) Prather Johnson of Tacoma, WA and Susan (husband-Brinton) Wilkey of Springfield; and 7 grandchildren. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday March 5th, 2001 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th Street in Springfield. There will be a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 6th, 2001 at Christ the King Catholic Church, the Rev. David Lantz celebrant. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
