Matthew H. "Matt" Jones

He was born in Springfield, April 23, 1985 the son of Michael J. and Debra (Bertels) Jones. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Grade School and then attended Ursuline Academy before graduating from Athens High School.

Matt had a passion for anything automotive. His expertise was installing automotive accessories and window tinting. He spent most of his time working for Street Art in Springfield. He loved to attend the SEMA Shows in Las Vegas, keeping up on the latest trends in automotive customization. Matt also enjoyed working with his dad doing home improvement projects both at their home and his grandmother’s home.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, and both maternal and paternal grandmothers.

Surviving are his son, Nathan Jones of Springfield, his parents, Mike and Deb Jones of Cantrall, IL, his sister, Heather Jones, his brother, Andrew (Fiance Brittany Pierson) Jones both of Cantrall, IL, his maternal grandfather, Henry (wife Sue) Bertels of Rochester, IL, his niece and nephew Brooke and Brayden Jones, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

Visitation: The Jones family will greet family and friends at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 from 4-7 pm.

Funeral Service: The funeral service will be held at 10 am Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Nathan Jones Education Fund c/o INB Bank, Springfield.
