Kevin E. Cain

Kevin E. Cain, 43, of Springfield, died at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011. Kevin was born in Springfield on February 5, 1968, the son of Edward A. and Evelyn Cleeton Cain. He married Susan Vono on April 17, 1993 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield. Kevin graduated from Riverton High School in 1986 and then served in the Naval Reserves. He received his Associates Degree in Applied Science from Lincoln Land Community College. Kevin was a Registered Respiratory Therapist and was co-owner of Vono Medical Supplies. He was very concerned with helping others less fortunate or anyone with special needs. Kevin possessed a special talent when assisting with fittings of custom rehab equipment. Kevin was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Business Club, Ducks Unlimited, Left Handers Gun Club, Knights of Columbus #364 and the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, golfing, watching all sports, camping with his family, snowmobiling, and being outdoors. He also played hockey in his younger years and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Vono. He is survived by his wife, Susan Cain of Springfield; two sons, Justin and Seth Cain, both of Springfield; parents, Edward and Evelyn Cain of Sherman; mother-in-law, Dorothy Vono of Springfield; two sisters, Cindy (husband, Shane) Prater of Springfield and Susie (husband, Albert) Wilson of Riverton; brother-in-law, John Vono Jr. of Savoy; one uncle, Allan (wife, Delores) Cleeton of Springfield; two nieces, one nephew and several cousins; and two great- nieces and one great-nephew. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
