Kathy was born December 4, 1948, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Ronald and Martha Pauline Colclasure Briney. She married Barry A. Martin “famous comedian” on March 22, 1969, in Charleston, IL; he preceded her in death.
Kathy graduated from Findlay High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. She was 5 hours short of achieving her Master’s Degree in social work. She was employed as an adjudicator for the State of Illinois Department of Rehabilitation until her retirement. Kathy loved animals, her family, was a master gardener through the University of Illinois, enjoyed plants, her pets, Home Shopping Network, and was an avid Illini basketball fan.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Kathy is survived by her children, Darby Martin of Springfield and Karly Britt (Dennis Farley, Jr.) Martin of Rochester; grandchildren, Tally Martin and Cicely Leonetti, both of Springfield; sister, Connie S. Robinson of Sullivan IL; two aunts; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her two cats, Milo and Peanut.
Visitation and Celebration of Life: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
