Kathryne Marie Trapp, 92, of Springfield, died at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital. Kathryne was born September 6, 1914 in Springfield, the daughter of Karl and Rose Heiser Kohlrus. She married Laurence “Babe” Trapp; he preceded her in death in 1959. Kathryne worked for the State of Illinois for forty-two years. For twenty-six of those years, she was the Executive Secretary to Senator Frank M. Ozinga. Kathryne was also the Executive Director of the Legislative Commission to Visit and Examine State Institutions. Kathryne’s faith was important to her. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she was in the Altar and Rosary Society. She also found time to be a member of the St. John's Hospital Samaritan's Club and was a pastoral care minister at St. John’s Hospital as well. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: John and Anthony Kohlrus, and one sister: Tillie Colin. She is survived by one son: Laurence “Jack” Trapp, Sr. of Springfield; one daughter: Alyce (husband, Bill) Brown of Mt. Prospect, IL; three grandchildren: Bridget C. Weber of River Forest, IL, Tiffany M. Trapp of Chicago and Laurence “Larry” Trapp of Phoenix, AZ; one great-granddaughter: Kendall Paige Weber of River Forest, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2006 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield with Rev. Mark Schulte celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield, IL 62702.
