John and Elisabeth Plasko

John Plasko, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Elisabeth, who passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield at the age of 82.

Shortly after their wedding, John and Elisabeth immigrated to the United States from Germany. They lived in Chicago, Illinois for over forty years and moved to Springfield, IL in 1996 to be closer to their beloved grandchildren, Lisa and Steven. Elisabeth had a natural gift in the art of German cooking and baking and was delighted to share her talents with her friends by inviting them over for delicious dinners and desserts. John made instant friends wherever he went with his infectious smile and charming personality.

John and Elisabeth were preceded in death by their son, Richard Plasko and their grandson, Steven Olszewski. They are survived by a granddaughter, Lisa Henn and her husband Marshall of St. Louis, MO and cherished friends that they encountered while residing in Springfield.

A private memorial service for John and Elisabeth is planned.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield.
