He was born on July 13, 1956, the son of Albert and Beverly Windell Eyman.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army and Illinois National Guard for 23 years. He also worked for the State of Illinois for a few years. John loved the St. Louis Cardinals, watching action and war movies, playing blackjack as well as computer games, and reading history books. He was described to be independent, hardworking, respectful, stubborn, and prudent.
He is survived by his daughters, Sally (Eric) Tavender and Laura (Jeff) Neher; grandchildren, Abigail and Emmett Tavender; siblings, Joyce Rodriguez and Jean Schaeffer; mother of his children: Marti Eyman; and two nieces.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be 10:30 am on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center 900 S. 6th Street in Springfield. Private family inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
