She was born on Nov. 21, 1940 in Prague, Czechoslovakia to Maria and Emil Bausch. Erika, her mother, Maria Bausch and sister, Gathe Bausch Thicksten immigrated to the United States in 1952.
Erika graduated from Dixon High School in 1960. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Illinois and her PH.D. from the University of Toledo in Toledo, OH. She was a licensed clinical psychologist. She was employed in her profession until her retirement in 2009.
Erika married Herbert Morse Altman in 1962. They had no children. She is preceded in death by her husband, her father, her mother, and her sister.
She enjoyed traveling, sailing, entertaining, cooking, and most of all, reading. She is survived by her nephews, Shawn (wife Jaylene) and Bruce (wife Zanette) and niece, Sabrina Seeley and heir children, all of whom enriched her life tremendously.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am. Rabbi Barry Marks will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
