He was born in Riverton, Oct. 18, 1933 the son of Richard and Melina Thomas Douglas. His wife Roxie preceded him in death in 2002.
Mr. Douglas retired as an Ironworker through the Ironworkers Local #46. He was a member of St. Aloysius Parish.
Earl loved to fish, hunt and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed western movies.
Surviving are his children; Dee-Dee Nunn, Cherie (Pat) O’Neill, Shirley (Marty Miller) Lowman, Jo Ellen Davis, Les (Lynne) Douglas and Bernie Douglas, all of Springfield. He has several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Fred Douglas of California and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday May 7, 2014 at the funeral home, Chaplain John Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by The Inter-Veterans Burial Detail and the Department of Defense.
