Darrell Michael Jones

Darrell Michael Jones, 57, of Curran, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013. Darrell was born June 7, 1955 in Springfield, the son of Darrell V. and Teresa M. Holmes Jones. He married Beth Ann Carpenter on August 8, 1987. Darrell was a graduate of Lanphier High School and was employed as a Mail Handler with the United State Postal Service for 35 years. He was fondly known for being outgoing, fun, loving, and for being a family man. One of his greatest passions in life was horse racing. He owned race horses and also enjoyed placing bets on the horses. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Beth Ann of Curran; one son, Darren Michael Jones of Curran; three daughters, Dara (husband, Bob) Bose of Glenarm, Daina (husband, R.J.) Turley of Springfield, and Sara Carpenter of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Landon Michael Jones, Ryan, Tyler and Becca Bose, Breauna Jones, Trayton and Maci Turley, and N'Kyla Rainey; three siblings, Kevin Casey (companion, Maggie Flynn) Jones, James Keith (companion, Debbie Reynolds) Jones, and Mary Teresa (husband, Bob) Reed. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 3:00- 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW #755, 2211 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield.
