Dana was born on April 18, 1943, in Lincoln, the daughter of Marion and Phyllis (Smith) Ranney. She married Donald Warren Smith on February 24, 1961, in Lincoln.
Dana graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961. She enjoyed hosting parties at her home on Lake Springfield, traveling, boating, and the company of her many beloved dogs.
Dana was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Mona K. Ranney, and grandson, Justin Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Springfield; son, Mitch (Cindy) Smith of Chillicothe; daughter, Christa (Rick) Hanselman of Springfield; grandchildren, Ashley and Nathaniel Smith, Jack Hanselman, and Sarah (Rhett) Sarsany; and two great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.
