He was born in Springfield, June 23, 1948 the son of Alvin L and Georgia Pillow Rountree. His parents preceded him in death.
Dana married Carrolyn Delk in Springfield, January 7, 1978.
He was a graduate of Tennessee State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Inc. fraternity. He was also a member of the Abundant Faith Christian Center. He was a registered member and official of the Illinois High School Association.
Dana spent his career in education as a teacher and coach with Springfield School District 186, retiring in 2007. Even after retirement, he continued to substitute teach and coach in the school district.
In addition to his wife Carrolyn, he leaves to cherish his memories his son, Devin of Tampa, FL., his sister, Janice (husband Anthony) Thompson of Springfield, 2 nieces, Ashley and Amanda Thompson, and several aunts and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Abundant Faith Christian Center 2525 Taylor Ave. Springfield, IL on Monday Feb. 6, 2012 from 10 am until time of funeral services there at 12 noon. Rev. Jerry Doss will officiate. Elder Elias Walton will serve as facilitator. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, near Riverton.
In lieu of flowers, those that wish may direct memorial contributions to the Springfield Southeast High School Girls Track Team or Abundant Faith Christian Center.
