Cynthia (Cravens) Wilson, 71, of Springfield, formerly of Williamsville, died at 2:05 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Heritage Hospice surrounded by her family. She was born in Urbana on April 1, 1946. Cynthia was the daughter of Ira Dale and Helen (Massey) Cravens, both deceased. She was previously married to Rich Wilson. Ms. Wilson was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was a Deacon for a short time. She belonged to the Junior League in Alton and Springfield. She worked as a tour guide at the Abraham Lincoln Home and Wax Museum. Ms. Wilson was involved as a volunteer in several political campaigns, beginning in the 1960s. She was a docent for the Springfield Art Association at Butler School and she was elected to the East Alton Library board. She owned a small stationary business, named Jessicas House. Cynthia loved traveling and went to Europe, Hawaii and studied at the University of Americas in Mexico City for a year. She enjoyed reading, studying Presidents and First Ladies, cheerleading, and landscaping, especially with flowers. Her favorite role in life was motherhood. Cynthia received a bachelors degree from MacMurray College and a masters degree from SIU in Counseling and Psychology. She also earned her MSW from Washington University in St. Louis. She worked as a clerk for the judiciary committee for the Illinois State Legislature, supervisor at Secretary of State, social worker at several state mental hospitals, as well as a psychiatric social worker in units of private hospitals. She also had a clinical private practice for several years. She is survived by three children, Joshua (wife, Maritza) Wilson of Chicago, Jessica Wilson of Springfield and Andrea Trampe of Edwardsville; granddaughter, Isabella; grandson, Dibri; two brothers, Rodney Cravens and Philip (wife, Pam) Cravens; two nieces, Kelly and Keelie; one nephew, Ryan (wife, Sara); and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
