Clifford Wayne Castleman, 74, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday July 3, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 24, 1940 in Riverton to Clifford Newton and Helen Arbelle Dambacher Castleman. Clifford married Nancy Dodd in Springfield on December 23, 1962 and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter Melissa Jo (Jerry) Donaldson of Springfield, his son Kevin Wayne Castleman of Phoenix, AZ., five grandchildren: Travis (Ashley) Donaldson, Nicholas Donaldson, and Sara Donaldson all of Springfield, Matthew Castleman of Pigeon Forge, TN., and Meghan Castleman of Greensboro, N.C., one great-grandson Noah Wayne Castleman, his sister June (Richard) Preston of Peoria, one brother Ronald Gene (Barb) Castleman of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Castleman was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. He started working at Weavers Manufacturing before moving to Sangamon State University working with the grounds crew and retiring after thirty years of service. Clifford enjoyed playing golf, watching NASCAR, and he attended iWorshipCenter in Springfield.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct Military Honors.
