Bill Chesser

Bill Chesser, 74, of Springfield, died at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his residence. Bill was born December 23, 1937 in Hillsboro, the son of Carl W. and Jewel E. Young Chesser. He married Barbara J. Heimsch on December 17, 1977 in Springfield. Bill retired from IBEW Local 309 in Collinsville in December 1999 and then helped with the family business. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and also enjoyed bowling and NFL football. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he participated in several Youth Mission Trips. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Gene Chesser. He is survived by his father, Carl W. Chesser; wife, Barb Chesser of Springfield; his four children, Laura (David) Goetting, Jennifer (Tom) Goldstein, Paula Chesser, and Michael Chesser; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. The family will be hosting a memorial gathering from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2645 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield with Rev. Wayne Hoffman officiating. A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the family from 2:30 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Dublin Pub in Vinegar Hill Mall, 107 W. Cook St., Springfield.
