She was born on January 26, 1926 in Manila, Republic of the Philippines. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Encarnacion (Espeleta) Berkenkotter.
Betty had worked for General Motors for many years. She was a voracious reader and had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her 3 children, Dianne (husband John “Jay”) Beall of Springfield, Christopher Henry Livergood of Nampa, ID, and Franklin Marcus “Marc” Gonder of Sparks, NV; 4 grandchildren, Erik Beall, Ian Beall, Andrea Gonder, and Allison Gonder; 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson T. Beall and Nora Morgan.
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Frank Berkenkotter, Kay Berkenkotter Goutierez, Bill Berkenkotter, Ben Berkenkotter, Jr., George Berkenkotter, and Trudy Berkenkotter Remedios.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where a memorial service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11 am. Per her wishes cremation rites were accorded. Inurnment will take place on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 10 am at Roselawn Memorial Park, Springfield.
Memorials may be made to either St. John’s Hospital or St. John’s Home Hospice.
