Ave Marie Harper 89, of Mt. Sterling, formerly of Springfield, died at 3:50 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Heritage Manor in Mt. Sterling. Marie was born March 7, 1916 in Brown County, IL the daughter of George Leslie and Ruth Byrns Harper. Miss Harper, a high school graduate from St. Mary’s Academy, came to Springfield in 1940 as a beautician of 10 years. She worked for the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Council for 20 years as a secretary and also for the City of Springfield, including Capital Bicentennial until retirement in 1981. She was a member of Woman’s Club of Springfield; Brinkerhoff Home; Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Choir for 25 years; Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Choir; St. Louise de Marillac Guild; Ss. Peter and Paul’s 55 and over club and a Dominican Laity member. She is survived by two sisters: Bette Geisler and Corrine Kassing both of Mt. Sterling and two brothers: James Harper of Clayton and Donald Harper of Quincy; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a cousin: Reverend Robert W. O’Connor of Lewistown. Family will receive friends from 8:45-9:45 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 524 E. Lawrence Ave, Springfield. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Mt.
