Audrey “Sid” Blalock, 84, of Springfield was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday April 27, 2013 at the Regency. She was born on July 28, 1927 in Greene County, Illinois to Charles and Inez Mc Garvey Ross. She married Richard Blalock in Greene County on June 6, 1948 and he survives.
Mrs. Blalock is also survived by two sons: Thomas Earl (Judy) Blalock of Springfield, and Ted Allen (Deborah) Blalock of Palatka, Florida, her daughter Karan (Dr. Randy) Ross of Sherman, four brothers: Jack (Eleanor) Ross, Robert (Barbara) Ross, Jerry (Mary Jane) Ross, and Bill (Rose) Ross, four grandchildren: Jessica (companion Johnny) Tucker, Michael (Elisha) Tucker, Kendra (Rich) Feffer, and Sarah Blalock, and three great-grandchildren: Olivia, Macie, and Cooper Tucker.
Sid worked at the UIS as a secretary for over ten years in the Applied Study Department. She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church, she loved volunteering in many church activities, and she loved travelling internationally with her husband. She was the best cook and enjoyed being with her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday May 1, 2013 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen St., and burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:30am-11:30am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
