Alex Rahn, 13, of Springfield, died on Friday, September 5, 2008 after injuries sustained in a bicycle accident. Alex was born on December 29, 1994 in Manila, Philippines and came home to the United States on August 23, 1995, where he was adopted by Steve and Jennifer Rahn. Alex was in the 8th grade at Grant Middle School where he played point guard on the basketball team. He loved music, computers, and all kinds of sports. Alex had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Alex was preceded in death by his grandfather, Howard Johnson in 1993. He is survived by his parents, Steven C. and Jennifer Johnson Rahn of Springfield; his sister, Katie Rahn of Springfield; his grandmother, Elaine Johnson of Elgin; grandparents, Gerald and Joan Rahn of Red Bud; his aunts and uncles, Mary and Ronald Aniballi of Hampshire, Scott and Laurie Rahn of St. Louis, MO, Stuart and Michelle Rahn of Fenton, MO, and Jordan and Donna Johnson of Dundee. Family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Kirlin -Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following the visitation. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant.
