Adam Sockel, Jr., 89, of Springfield, passed away on October 5, 2022 at Carriage Crossing Senior Living of Taylorville. He was born on May 14, 1933 in Springfield to Adam Sockel Sr., and Stella Stankavich. Adam married Helen Joanne Hasara in 1965 and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2020.
Mr. Sockel is survived by three children: Anasue (Ronald) Botz and Deborah Sockel both of Springfield and David (Laurie) Sockel of Rochester, three grandchildren: Ricky Harbour, Jarid Sockel and Adam Schuyler, three great-grandchildren: Camden and Jayden Sullivan and Landyn Klasing, one great-granddaughter Aalayah Klasing, one sister Luan (Donald) Davis, one sister-in-law Kathy (Jim) Piatt and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother Ronald Sockel and one granddaughter Lauren Klasing.
Adam was a US Navy Veteran and he was a police officer with the Springfield Police Department. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Florida and the gambling boat in Peoria. He enjoyed playing the stock market and he was a member of the Eagles Club.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday October 11, 2022 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will greet friends from 12:30pm until the time of service Tuesday at Bisch West. A private graveside service will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
