Sara Sue Hurley, age 76, of Springboro, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on Friday January 19, 2024, surrounded by family, after a six year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Sara was born in Dayton, OH on February 22, 1947 to the late Edwin Parks and Beulah Grace (Holderbaum) Kilpatrick.
Sara attended Middletown Business College. She worked for McLaughlin Inc. in Middletown for 22 years and BlastPro Inc. in West Chester for 25 years. She retired in April of 2020.
Sara was an active member of Fairhaven Church, Springboro. She loved her church family and served in many capacities. She led and or participated in 65 or more bible studies through the years. She attended The Walk to Emmaus, #2 in 1996, through Middletown Emmaus. Through the years she served on many Emmaus weekends and sponsored 75 people to attend the walks. Sara completed the Stephen Ministry training through Fairhaven Church and served as a Stephen Minister. She was also in charge of distributing Grief Ministry books through Fairhaven. Sara was a mentor and friend to many and many people have told her family they were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel H. Hurley; and brother Lawrence R. Kilpatrick. She is survived by her sister Joy (Gary) Farmer and her sister-in-law Karen Kilpatrick. Sara was a loving, selfless, generous, and amazing mother to her children, Brian Bryant, Sharon (Sean) James, and Kimberly (Dann) Grossman; her 7 grandchildren, Holly Bryant, Ashley Bryant, Mariah Bryant, Kaylee Charlton, Savannah James, Jaydann Grossman, and Sara-Grace James; and 3 great grandchildren Tanner Bryant, Mattox Bryant, and Jase Haddox.
A visitation for Sara will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 N. Main St., Springboro, OH 45066, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jared Petty officiating.
