He was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 22, 1933 to the late Joseph and Dorothy Stratton of Russiaville, Indiana. Barney was employed as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. He served his country in the U.S. Army during 1956-1958. He arrived in Florida in 1996 after serving 45 years in the California school system.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Jean (Bob) Manship; and daughter, April.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia Anne Stratton; son, Cameron (Amy) Stratton of California; daughter, Jeannie Romack of Indiana; grandchildren, Bethany (Cody) Cross, Jeffrey Romack and Katie Stratton; great grandchildren, Dana and Lane Cross; brothers, Cameron (Julie) Stratton and John (Carol) Stratton; and many nieces and nephews.
In recognition of his military service, Barney will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00am.
