Born in Manhattan, New York, he came to the area 32 years ago from Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, New York. He was an engineer for Grumman Aerospace corporation, a lifetime member of Suffolk Lodge #60 F&AM, Port Jefferson, New York, and a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
He is predeceased by his wife, Joan and son, Frederick. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gary Nelson of Spring Hill, Florida and Patricia and Chris Bernhardt of Brooksville, Florida; sons, Henry "Buddy" Mehl of Pensacola, Florida and Michael Mehl of Fredericksburg, Virginia; brother, Robert and Barbara Mehl of The Villages, Florida; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Merritt Funeral Home - Spring Hill, 4095 Mariner Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL 34609, where Funeral Services begin at 11:00am, Thursday, January 25, 2024. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:30pm at Florida National Cemetery, 6504 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
