Earlene Mary Jackson

Earlene Jackson, 86, passed away September 19, 2024 in Brooksville, Florida. She was born on May 20, 1938, the daughter of Emil Andy and Irene (Lemieux) in Augusta, Maine. She graduated as valedictorian from Cony High School, then with honors from Gorham State Teachers College. She started her teaching career at Lyman Moore Middle School in Portland and also worked as a secretary at the Cape Elizabeth school system after raising her children.

She loved to dance and met her future dancing partner for life, Paul Jackson, at a sock hop in Augusta. They were wed on June 23, 1962.

Earlene was an avid golfer and a member of several golf clubs in Maine and Florida. She was always reading a book, and also loved crossword puzzles, knitting, quilting, and showing off her knowledge to anyone who watched Jeopardy with her.

She also loved sports and along with Paul, passed that love along to her children. She was especially fond of the Patriots and the Red Sox and insisted on displaying a license plate of the Boston baseball team on her car in Florida.

Devoted to her family, she and Paul made many trips to visit their grandchildren in Southern California and later built a house in Monmouth, Maine so they could maximize their time with them in the summers.

A devout Catholic, Earlene found solace and strength in her faith, regularly attending services and engaging in activities at 10 different churches in Maine and Florida.

Earlene is survived by Paul, her husband of 62 years; son Jeff and his wife Annie, and their children Ryan and Kelsey; son Chris; sisters Judith and Jane; and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her brother Emil.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital for their care and empathy.

Earlene was greatly loved and respected and will be missed. There will be a celebration of her life at Purpooduck Club in Cape Elizabeth, Tuesday, October 22 at 2:00 pm.
