A Celebration of Bills life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 29, 2011 at the Lakeside Community Lutheran Church. Pastor John Mills will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the Dahl Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rocky Ridge Cemetery following the service. William “Bill” Welter Jr. 55, of the town of Casey, went to heaven after a courageous battle with cancer Friday, October 21, 2011 at home. He was surrounded by his wife, son, and family at his home. Bill was born March 7, 1956 in Evergreen Park, IL to the late William and Carolyn (Meyer) Welter Sr. Bill married Gwen Martini August 20, 2010, they cherished each moment that they shared together.
Bill grew up in Oak Lawn, IL. He moved to Spooner, and graduated in 1974 from Spooner High School. Bill was employed by the railroad. He then went on to further his education at UW-Stevens Point. Bill fulfilled his childhood dream of owning and living at Anchor Bay Resort. The resort became an environment for others to share in his love of nature and surrounding.
Bill was employed by Northwest Regional Planning Commission. He was instrumental in developing environmental programs to help reduce the hazardous waste stream. Due to his health he retired after ten years of dedicated, and committed service.
Bill was a man of prayer and belief that God was in control. He was a member of Lakeside Community Lutheran Church. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends through his self-sacrifice and caring of others needs before his own. His other passions in life were fishing, hunting, and striving for a healthy life style. Bill enjoyed the silence and solitude and being at one with nature
Those who shared his life are his beloved wife Gwen Welter, Town of Casey, one son; Nathan (Kristy) Welter of Shell Lake, one stepson; Anthony Bolado of San Antonio, TX. Two stepdaughters; Naomi (Glen) Dickenson of Sparta, WI. Kathleen Bolado of GA, one sister; Deb (Steve) Parsons of Spooner, WI. Six grandchildren Raemie, Connor Hammac, Dylan, Jordan Green, Braydan, Hannah Dickenson. Nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents.
