Bill Heaton, age 95, of Spokane Valley, WA peacefully and quietly stepped onto Heaven’s shore where he heard “well done thou good and faithful servant” on Tuesday morning November 4th. He was born the ninth of ten children to the late Arthur and Nellie (Beatty) Heaton on January 7th 1919. He graduated Valedictorian from Perth High School, Perth N.D. in 1937 and then from N.D. School of Forestry in 1948.
Bill served as an Airplane Engine Mechanic in the 64th U.S. Army Air Forces Unit 1942 – 1945 and then in the U.S Naval Reserves 1947 – 1952. Was a lifetime member of the American Legion, post 0241. He was also a member of the Ohio Forests’ Association since 1948.
He married Nellie Jo Wall, September 27th, 1959. Bill taught Sunday school most of his life, and served with his wife at Sinto Vespers for 30 years as a part of their ministry together. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum after working 35 years. With his passion for flowers and gardening, he provided bouquets from his yard to many families, to the present day. He was a blood donor for many years, having donated many gallons.
Memorial service will be held Friday the 14th of November, 1 P.M. at Holman Gardens, 12912 E. 12th Ave. Spokane Valley, WA. Interment at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR.
He is survived by, his loving wife of 55 years, Nellie Jo, daughter Lois (Purtee-Heaton) King, and son-in-law Milton King, five grandchildren Jay King, Josh and Jesse (Funai) King, Jamie King, Jeremy King, Two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. All of which were the pride of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Union Gospel Mission, Hayford Community Church, The American Legion, Spokane Baptist Association Homes (Holman Gardens), or the charity of your choice.
