Wayne B. Powell

Wayne B. Powell, age 89, passed away January 13, 2012, in Spokane, WA. A lifelong resident, he was born in Spokane May 1, 1922, spending a short time away while serving in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Wayne was a prominent area businessman, operating Wayne Powell Painting for many years. He was also a life member of the Painters Union. Wayne enjoyed time with his family, and many memories were made outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping and, in later years, his motor home. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Burniece Powell in 1999. He is survived by three sons, Steve Powell of Deer Park, WA, Roy Powell (Kathy) of Cheney, WA, David Powell (Susan) of Poulsbo, WA; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two nieces. Visitation will be Monday from Noon to 5:00 PM and Tuesday from Noon to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, in the Alwin Chapel at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. Interment will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
