Tom was born on November 8, 1961 in Spokane, Washington to his parents Marvin and Della (Emmerson) Wood. He graduated from Creston High School in 1980. He retired from City of Seattle Treasury Services after 28 years and moved back to Creston to the family property.
Tom had never married nor had any children of his own but he was “uncle” to many of his friend’s children and grandchildren and when he lived in Colorado for a time he and his nephew were good buddies and spent a lot of time together. He had so much love and care for others he kept close to them and kept in contact with family near and far.
His greatest loves were family and friends, his dog Roman who went everywhere with him, fishing and his boats, he loved hunting, his trucks and had so many other interests and projects he enjoyed.
Tom’s family and friends will always remember him for easily making friends wherever he lived and kept in contact with many from school and work. Tom was one of a kind, he had a heart of gold and a quick wit, said what he thought without a filter and had anything and everything anyone could want or need and he loved to shop for a bargains. He could argue with you about the littlest thing and repeat a story over and over, but the stories we could tell and the fun he brought to all was what made Tom so special.
Tom is survived by his sister Terri (Mitch), his nephew Justin Colton, his brother Tim Wood (Kalee), his niece Kasey McKinley, grandnephew Aaron Cheatham, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Della Wood, grandmother Lela Reeve, grandparents Bill and Virginia Emmerson, aunts Joyce Wood, Patty Wood, uncles Bill Emmerson, Warren Emmerson and many other family and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Tom planned for a later date , place and time will be shared then. All family and friends are encouraged to bring stories and memories to share about Tom’s life and adventures.
The family would like to thank Deaconess Hospital for the care they gave Tom and comfort to the family during this time. A big thank you to his friends and those that were there for him and cared so much for him.
