Ruth S. Johnson, 95 years young, joined her beloved husband Norman on Sept 5, who preceded her in death, just in time to celebrate their anniversary. Ruth is survived by her three children Jotina, Sonya and Richard as well as three generations of grandchildren. Born in Sweden, Mom always called herself a stubborn Swede, but to those who knew and loved her, she was above all a beautiful lady in every sense of the word. Our mother came to America on a ship by herself at the age of 12, and was adopted by her aunt and uncle. She worked hard to become a U.S. Citizen. She was a secretary for Norman’s legal practice, and the secretary for Grace Lutheran Church until she retired at the age of 87. She also taught Swedish classes until 2009. Mom loved her family, her friends, the Scandinavian Fraternity, and her church. She was an inspiration to all she touched. She drew people into her heart like a treasured friend, and made them feel special. She loved to bake for all the children. Her reputation for making the best Swedish meatballs, banana bread, and snicker doodles is unsurpassed. She will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, October 1st, 3:00 PM at 5008 N. Washington St., Spokane, WA.
