Robert Randall “Randy” Merrill (age 79) passed away October 5, 2021 in Spokane, WA due to complications of Covid. He was born February 22, 1942 in Ft Worth, TX and spent his early years in Oklahoma, moving to Spokane around the age of 12. Randy graduated from Central Valley HS in 1960 and was a member of the National Guard while attending Washington State University. He met Sylvia Rehard in 1961 on a blind date, and they married in 1963.
Randy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Merrill; son Todd Merrill and daughter-in-law Kathy Merrill (with their two daughters Chiara and Kavita); daughter, Becky Merrill (and her three children Justine Speaks with daughter Kinsey Dalton, Courtney Speaks and Lee Speaks; four sisters, Peggy Castaneda and husband Guillermo, Elizabeth Merrill, Sally Mitchell and husband Michael, Nancy Langston and husband Steve; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Randy worked in construction, owning his own business RR Merrill Construction, where he designed and built homes and commercial buildings. He was a handyman. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. Randy attended Valley Real Life Church and volunteered in the Toddler Department, which he truly loved. Randy enjoyed riding bicycles, running, skiing, golfing and was an avid reader. He loved traveling to Hawaii, Mexico and many international places. He will be truly missed.
A Celebration of Life memorial will be Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11:00am at Valley Real Life Church, 1831 S. Barker Rd., Greenacres, WA 99016.
